Lets talk about Range!

Lets talk about Range.
As I see it this will be the determining factor of wether or not my argument applies to you. If your live in a densely wooded state the way I do shots when hunting tend to be less than 40 yards. Certainly we have farms, fields, and meadows but the primary hunting areas are all densely wooded, scarcely populated areas. If you hunt in areas such as this, Im talking to you. If however you live in oh... I don't know, Nebraska, you can pretty well disregard the rest of this (well... sort of, I can actually still make a point just not the way I planned).

If the majority of your hunting occurs within 50 yards though, the way that mine does a pellet rifle suddenly becomes a very real option. Truth be told, with modern scopes, pellets, rifles, and a decent man (or woman? hell or child even) behind the trigger 100+ yards is actually very doable with a pellet gun, I have even shown you that with my own rifles (talking to you a little more now Nebraska people).  A 22lr is capable of bringing down small game at 450 yards if you can hit it at that distance, but frankly, can you? I know I can't (want to debate that range? try http://bearingarms.com/a-22-will-kill-you-further-than-you-can-shoot-it-accurately/ on for size before you get to worked up).

I can accurately place shots at 150 yards tops with a 22lr and thats about it. Now... what I mean by that is this, I can consistently, through the aid of my scope, bench, and sand bags, put bullets into silver dollar or smaller size groups at that range. If you can do better then props! I can't. My old beat up 22 isn't some 1500 dollar work of magnificance with a 1000 dollar scope on it. I think my dad bought it for about 250 with the bsa 3-9 thats on it. I know for a fact I'm good for the same accuracy at 100 yards with my 22 cal RWS, I've already shown you that, I may even be able to make the stretch to 125 if given the opportunity. So if your like me and the likelyhood of 100+ yard shots in your area is slim to none anyway at least in the range department you haven't really lost anything from a 22lr.
