First post:
Well, I have decided to start a blog. A close friend of mine is the Admin of a blog called Planning and Foresight (http://planningandforesight.blogspot.com), it is definitely worth a look around. I talked to him a little bit and decided I would start my own based on my growing education on air rifles.
My goal for this blog is to help educate others as I learn myself. I will pass as many useful tidbits as I can along to any readers that happen to stumble upon my ramblings. I plan to cover many airgun related topics including rifles, pellets, targets, scopes, and perhaps even pistols as my personal stash expands. I will also discuss from time to time powder burners, knives, and who knows what else?
I hope that I can help someone at some point with the information iI provide on this website. If you have any questions just let me know and I will try to answer them as best I can.
I guess I'll go ahead and jump right on in. I am an avid shooter, an occasional hunter, and a "practical prepper." What I mean by that is I believe the possibility that s could htf is rather high, and to some extent I try to prepare in a reasonable fashion accordingly.
With the recent ammo shortage I started looking for other ways to satisfy my shooting itch and my desire to have some lead stock piled away. Now 22lr in my area is over 110 dollars for a box of 500. I turned to pellet rifles. Now all this started about a year ago when one of my best friends suffered from a rather ridiculous squirrel infestation. The city he lives in wouldn't allow him to call an exterminator for fear of other people's pets so yours truly set about to starting squirrelmagedon.
I bought two Ruger Airhawks in .177 caliber, I gave one to my friend and tried the other out; I bought both at clearance prices without scopes. The Airhawk is a rip off of the RWS 34 and not a bad one. The Airhawk would put down a squirrel but I longed for more. My father had become interested at this point so I sold him the Airhawk and bought him a Stoger X20 for father's day. I will say that in its price range the Stoger is a great rifle! I bought myself a Gamo Hornet and went at it again. Once more, the Gamo was a nice rifle but just not quite my style. It received a camo job and went into the locker of "loner" rifles. This time I bought myself a Benjamin Trail NP in 22 caliber. This is the rifle that really started it all for me. That was the first rifle to really start claiming blood on the squirrels. That rifle currently has 5 squirrels out of my friends back yard alone to its name. Recently I bought a Gamo Bull Whisper Extreme in .177. It is a powerhouse and the day it was purchased it drew first blood with my most well placed shot to date; in the nose and out the back of the head.
I will go into greater detail of my current line up in later posts. This is just the first of many after all.
I want my readers to know something about these rifles. Past a certain point, (around the 100 dollar mark) these are NOT the rifles you grew up with. These are hard hitting powerhouses that deliver energy to the tune of 15, 20, 25 and up foot pounds. I have shot through 1.5 inches of plywood with my Bull Whisper using the right pellet. I really cannot emphasize enough that these are full fledged hunting rifles. They are much harder to take game with, the require much better shots, they require that the user be closer, steady, and much more accurate that normal, but they will in fact put the fear of God himself into your local rodent population.
I have 4 rifles currently including my loner and I will go into each one's specifics later on. For now I think this is a good start. If you like what you see and are thinking about a getting into a good air rifle just comment below, if not, well... ummm... you can still comment but I can't say as how it will do much good, freedom of speech and what have you. Anyways, stay safe and keep it classy.

I don't mind some vulgarity, but inappropriate comments, attacks, and general ignorance are not things I tolerate. I encourage discussion and debate, I don't much care for hissy man fights. If I feel your not contributing to the education of others or the betterment of the website, you will be removed from it. Other than that, have fun and give me some feedback!
