Yesterday was my first post. Today I will provide you with my first problem and attempted solution thus far. I was shooting today and my Gamo rattled its stock scope to death. The poor thing only lived for about a week. Now, when I bought the rifle the scope was rather marred when I took it out of the box but I really didn't care since I knew I would be hunting with it. Now I am in a bit of a spot since the scope doesn't work and I tend to doubt I will be allowed to return it since "it shows signs of use" well... I decided to try and fix it. My first attempt was to replace the cross hair, what I can only describe as a ribbon?, with a piece of lexan and fiber optic. The idea was sound and I guess worked but the fiber optic tube I used was 1.6mm (the smallest I had) and it was much much much to large. I will try again probably with another piece of lexan and I will etch a recticle on it this time. I will try and take some pics of the process in case anyone is interested. We will see what happens and if I can get it fixed?
UPDATE
I tried the lexan fix, it works, actually its rather convenient since you can design your recticle. Unfortunately I think the Bull Whisper did a bit too much damage to the poor scope and it isn't consistent at all. At some point when money allows I will put a Hawke scope on the Bull. I have one on my RWS 48 and it has been nothing shy of phenomenal!
As always, stay safe and keep it classy!
